Wedding entry says widower Haeuslerin zu Bischofsreut. Source: Passau Parish record Frey.11.234.1

One of these last names should be her maiden name and the other would be her married name to her previous and deceased husband.

"Had founded the Glöckgut (a large farm, today's house #13) with her first husband Mathias Süß (ss) in 1705. After her husband's death in 1712, she remained there with seven children. She married again in 1713. Her second husband was a farmer's son, Andre Eckerl. He died fairly soon after at the end of March 1714 and Maria married Markus Stadler in 1714 (her3th marriage). This marriage produced one son, Paul Stadler, born April 27, 1717. Maria Stadler died April 27, 1725 only 49 years old. She could not receive the last/death sacraments from the priest on her dead bed, because her husband Markus Stadler did not pick up the priest and brought him to his dying wife. For this (his careless behavior) he was strongly reprimanded, and on the day of her burial, as a 'fine' had to take confession and communion. Markus Stadler transferred his property to his cousine and her husband Kainz and retired. The widower and retiree from Bischofsreuth, Markus Stadler, did not stay alone long. On Aug. 13, 1725 he married in the Fryung church Margarete Mayr, daughter of a farm owner from Herzogsreut. She was born on July 17, 1687 in Herzogsreut, her parents were Tobias and Maria Mayr, born Mayr.(=ok). (her maiden name was Mayr too and that this is not a mistake) Magarete Stadler, born Mayr was then the mother of two children, namely Jakob 1726 and Maria 1730. On Nov. 23, 1737 Margarete Stadler, born Mayr, died retired (Nahrungsweib means someone who needs to be fed by the owners of the property, she once owned - those clauses usually were part of the contracts with which the properties were handed down). Her widower Markus Stadler remarried a 3rd time on May 12, 1739 in Fryung the widow Justina Blöchl. Their future destiny/fate is unknown to me." From information Norbert Madl provided August / 2003.

He married Sophia 12 Jun 1752 in Grainet Church, Grainet, Bavaria, Germany. She was born Abt. 1725, and died 09 Nov 1788 in Bischofsreut, Bavaria, Germany.

Notes for Jakob Stadler:

Died at age of 70 per Passau Parish record Grai.10.85.4.

Translated from German: "Around 1760 Jakob Stadler received from the Land Rulers/governors, the Bishop of Passau, a small property/lot at the border of the village of Bischofsreuth, but without title and without properly established borders. Afraid of loosing this property he went to the Wolfsteiner (County Seat) caretaker on July 30, 1778 and let him write up up the following request to the Prince Bishop, since writing was not a skill which he was able to do.

To the high princely Eminenz, Honorable/Highness of the holy Roman Churches, Cardinal and Prince of the Empire, Gracious Prince of the Land and Great Master (I think the 2nd Herr just emphasises the position of the Master) Your high princely Eminenz have a few years ago to me as your submissive subject already approved a small property for one cow feeding to improve my ability to provide for my wife an 5, for this your submissive subject obediently says thank you. Gracious Prince of Lands and Herr Herr the before mentioned ground place which I have already with a lot of expenses an effort worked and kept it clean, where now 3 wagons of hey growth. But now this place was not properly inherited or transferred (no title) to me. Now over short or long my wife and children -ƒ this place could be taken away from us. ƒ short-same meaning: Jakob wrote further he is not feeling well the last 2 years and please please give him title for his little place, and to instruct the proper authorities to issue him a title. Submissive obedient Jacob Stadler to Bischofsreith, ƒ County Wolfstein, 30 July, 1778.

The Chamber of the Prince Bishop did have mercy with Jakob Stadler, and so he received title for his property on 31 Dec. 1779. Jakob Stadler now was building a house on his property without a building permit. The house was called Stadlerhouse (häusl, ƒ a smaller house) by the people. Today it has the house number 33 in Bischofsreuth. In the year 1786 Jakob Stadler's son Josef received with 5 other settlers property below Bischofsreuth. This then became the village Auersbergreut with 6 houses. Josef Stadler did built in Auersbergreut the so called ,,Wurmhof,, (Wurm = worm) with today's house number 4. On Nov 9, 1788 Jakob Stadlter's wife Sophie died 60 years old. She was buried in Grainet. Her widower Jakob from Stadlerhäusl transferred on 27. May 1799 his Stadlerhäusl, - built without the appropriate building permit ? to his youngest son Franz-Xaver and went as a retired man to his son Josef in Auersbergreut." Generation No. 4

6. Franz Xaver4 Stadler (Jakob3, Markus2, Bartholomäus1) was born 25 Nov 1767 in Leopoldsreut #33, Niederbayern, Germany, and died 16 Jan 1840 in Bischofsreut, Bavaria, Germany. He married (1) Apollonia Blöchl. He married (2) Apollonia Blöchl 15 Apr 1799 in Church of Grainet, Bavaria, Germany, daughter of Michael Bloechl and Magdalena Mandl. She was born 25 Jan 1773 in Marchhäuser #8, Niederbayern, Germany, and died 04 Apr 1836 in Bischofsreut, Bavaria, Germany.

Notes for Franz Xaver Stadler:

Translated from German:

"Franz-Xaver Stadler, the owner now of the Stadlerhäusl in Bischofsreuth, which at the time of the transfer was estimated with a net worth of 100 Gulders, and he had to pay taxes on it, was born on Nov 25, 1767 in Bischofsreuth. His parent's house consisted of a one story masonry living house with adjoined stable and barn, covered with ?wood shingles and a backing oven in front of the house. A (about) 4½ acre land property was part of the estate. One small field was for potatoes, all other land was pastures. Taxes of 1 gulders and 15 Kreuzers were due annually, which if cash was not available, could be paid in 'Naturalien' (=produce), for example with a chicken, 7 eggs and a cheese or other things. Also war tax had to be paid, A grassing -Roboth ? money, service money, water money for that to the property belonging well water and a flax spinning. There was no way in getting rich for the residents. Shortly before the transfer Franz-Xaver Stadler got married on Apr. 15, 1799 in the church of Grainet. His bride was born on Jan. 25, 1773, as daughter to the miller couple from the Marchmill. She was the youngest of 19 children of the miller Michael Blöchl and his Wife Magdalena. How big her dowry was (what she brought with her) I cannot say, it probably was not much. They had eight children of which three died as small children. The five surviving children were: Johann Georg, born 1799, Anna, born 1804, Maria und Josefa, twins born 1806, and Josef, born 1810."

"Franz-Xaver Stadler transferred his by now 7.42 acre enlarged property in the following year, on 17. July 1837 to his son Josef with livestock and all for 1060 Gulders. In that time it was possible to gain main owner ship over the property, of which Josef Stadler in Nov. 1837 took advantage of. (The way it worked back then was that usually the 'Grundobereigentum'=Property Master Ownership was with either the church or the nobility. The people only had the so called 'Untereigentum'=lower ownership which meant that they owed taxes to their property masters. In return they were supposed to be protected by the Master Owners from gang roberies and other hassards of that sort. In the 19th century that ownership modell gradually changed to what we all know today. If you own it, you own it. His father Franz-Xaver Stadler was still living for a few years in retirement and died on Jan. 16, 1840." Source: Norbert Madl, August / 2003.

Born legitimate per Reinhard Riepl, January 2004.

Discrepancy: Reinhard Riepl has the land transfer of 1837 as being 7.42 Tagwerk (between 27 and 47 acres) instead of 7.42 acres. Per translation of Reinhard Riepl's info of January 2004.

He married Anna Sammer 18 Nov 1833 in Church of Grainet, Bavaria, Germany, daughter of Bernhard Sammer and Caecilia Kannamueller. She was born 18 Jan 1811 in Bischofsreut #25, Bavaria, Germany, and died 21 May 1892 in Auersbergreut, Germany.

Notes for Johann Georg Stadler:

Translated from German: "He did not ever go to school because the first teacher started didn't start in Bischofsreuth until 1810. But he learned to be a shoemaker (by apprenticeship), and was even called Master shoe maker. On Nov., 18th 1833 he married Anna Samer in the church of Grainet. She was born on Jan. 18th, 1811, daughter of Bernhard Samer and his wife Cäcilia, maiden name Kanamüller. They owned a small cottage in Bischofsreuth, house number 25. The marriage was blessed with nine children, including Hermann Stadler. ...back to the year 1786 when Auersbergreut was established. Not only had Johann Georg's uncle Josef, founded Auersgergreut #4, but also his aunt Therese, born 1756, with her husband Johann Köberl settled and founded house # 6 in Auersbergreut. Their son Martin Köberl in 1814 took over his parent's house# 6 in Auersbergreut and ran it down due to bad performance and marital problems. His property came on the auction block, and some in other hands. His cousin Johann Georg Stadler in 1842 took the oportunity and purchased a few parcels of land from of Martin Köberl's property for 835 Gulders. It included a small house. Martin Köberl which slowly came to his feet again (recovered), founded on his remaining property Auersbergreut #7, the today's Forest Farmer's Farm (hof means farm). But the cat won't give up looking for mice (means Martin did not change his former ways of life) and Köberl also ran down his newly built house #7, which his cousin, the shoemaker Johann Georg Stadler, finally purchased on March 10th, 1847. The shoemaker's couple were good people and educated their children in God's ways of living. On Apr. 20, 1874 Johann Georg Stadler died of old age and was buried at the new cemetery in Bischofsreuth. His widow died on May 21st, 1892 of old age and also was buried at the same cemetery. Her unmarried children Alois, Franz and Therese on July 15th, 1893 donated for the deceased parents, siblings and all poor souls a rosary mass for ever, which is held every year on All Souls day (2 Nov). For this they paid 120 Mark and on July 28th, 1894 they donated for the wellbeing of their parent's soul 350 Mark to the church. At the time, this was a lot of money."

"The three heirs for the parent's property in Auersbergreut house #7, of the Forest Farmer's House, were the 3 unmarried siblings, which donated a lot to the church. After their death a nephew of the them became owner of the property. It was Georg Stadler, also a shoemaker and a son of the resident/tenant Ludwig Stadler and Mathilde Jungbauer. He was born 1898 and married Hedwig Rodler in 1924. She died after having nine children in 1939 from uterus cancer. Georg Stadler's second marriage in 1939 was with the widow Theres Pröbster. On Jan 17th, 1944 a fire, caused by carelessness, destroyed the house down to its foundation. Therese Stadler, widowed Pröbster, had missed to extinguish slightly glimming oven ashes and due to ash and sparks flying the fire had began its destroying work near the stable. Nobdy was injured but the distress was big. Therese Stadler, widowed Pröbster died in 1971 and her husband died in 1975."

Notes for Martin Köberl:

Translated from German: "Martin Köberl in 1814 took over his parent's house# 6 in Auersbergreut and ran it down due to bad performance and marital problems. But the cat won't give up looking for mice (means Martin did not change his former ways of life) and Köberl also ran down his newly built house #7, which his cousin, the shoemaker Johann Georg Stadler, finally purchased on March 10th, 1847." Notes for Hermann Stadler:

Translated from German: "He attended the public school in Bischofsreut. His teachers were Georg Kremsreither and Michael Zeyns and he learned the shoemaker trade. If he was in the Prussian-Austrian Brother-War of 1866, or in the German- French War 1870/71 I don't know. But since he married after 1871 , it is assumed, that he was in the last mentioned war. In the year of their marriage they decided - Hermann and Kreszenz Stadler, like so many from Bischofsreut and surrounding area to emigrate to America. Josef Nigl, married with Karolina Blöchl, a brother of Kreszenz joined them in the emigration. They landed in Kansas City, KS. And came to Oshkosh, WI. There they lived on 228 Ohio Street. Hermann and Kreszenz Stadler had six Children. Georg, born 1873, married in 1893 in Oshkosh Alwina Drexler. Hermann, born 1874, married in 1897 Anna Tahedl. Evangelist Nigl 25 Nov 1843 in Grainet, Germany, son of J. Nigl and Theresia Neustifter. He was born 25 Nov 1811 in Bischofsreut #10, Germany, and died 27 Sep 1852.

Date born 3: 25 May 1814

Died 2: 05 Jun 1853, Bischofsreut, Niederbayern, Germany

Notes for J. Evangelist Nigl:

J. Evangelist Nigl took over the maternal estate. In September 1852, he was reported missing. "on Monday, September 13th, he left the tenant Johann Nigl from Bischofsreut and went to Schärding and environment in order to collect money for the Schwamm (sponge, fungus or mushrooms) (Holzschwamm von Baumstämmen= wood fungus/mushrooms from tree trunks). Nigl arrived in Passau on September 15th, stayed a few hours with his cousin, Kajetzan Nigl, a soldier with the royal infantry regiment Seckendorff, and about 8:00 in the evening left Passau to stay overnight at the innkeeper Scharrer in Ilz. His cousin accompanied him to the end of the Danube bridge, and clearly saw him take the street through Anger. Because Johann didn't arrive at the innkeeper Scharrer, and also didn't return again to Bischofsreut, it is suspected that perhaps on the way through the Holzgarten (wood garden, a place near a river where firewood and lumber was collected), he met with foul play, especially since he had with him a large leather sack with about 40 to 50 Gulden, and a large silver double-cased pocket watch with Roman numbers, which was wound from the back. Nigl is about 40 years old, has thinning blond hair, gray eyes, a full set of teeth and no beard. He was wearing a blue cloth Spencer (shirt) with dark buttons, a scarf, black summer trousers with blue stripes and ankle boots."

Whether Johann Nigl fell victim to robbery, we don't know. In any event, his body washed up in Neudeck on the Danube on September 27. An autopsy was performed, and the cause of death stated as angina pectoris/choking catarrh. He was buried in Alkoven.

At that time, his widow Veronika, born Stadler, was pregnant with her 8th child. She died in Bischofsreut on June 5, 1853, the same day her child was stillborn.

The estate came under the guardianship of J. Blöchl, and in 1855 was purchased by Mathias Madl, an ancestor of the current "Mathiasl" in Bischofsreut.
